Bernard Wolfe

Chairman and CEO

This is the second career for the native of Montreal, Canada, who made a name for himself in the 1970s as a goalie for the Washington Capitals. Bernie’s hockey career began while he was a finance major at Sir George Williams University. He was a four-year varsity starter, earning All-Star and All-Canadian honors. Bernie lives in Bethesda, MD with his wife Patsy. They have two daughters, Amanda & Jennifer along with four grandchildren.

Bernie Wolfe founded Bernard R. Wolfe & Associates, Inc. in 1981 to provide wealth management services to individuals, families and businesses. He is a Certified Financial Planner™ professional and a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst (CDFA). He was one of the first members of the Registry of Financial Planners in the Washington DC area. Bernie is a Registered Representative with Kestra Investment Services, LLC and an Investment Advisor Representative with Kestra Advisory Services, LLC.

Anne-Marie Laboe

Executive Vice President

Anne-Marie Laboe has been in the investment business for the last 26 years.  Prior to joining BRW in 2015, she spent 21 years as an Investment Management Consultant (IMC) covering Maryland, Virginia and DC.  She most recently represented BlackRock, the world’s largest asset money manager.  In her role as an IMC, she worked with Financial Advisors and their clients regarding specific investments, portfolio construction and the assessment of risk.  It was through this role, that she met Bernie 20 years ago. 

Anne-Marie graduated from Saint Mary’s College of Notre Dame with a BBA with a concentration in finance and marketing and a minor in mathematics. She currently holds a series 7 (General Securities Representative), 63 (Uniform Securities Agent State Law), 66 (Uniform Combined State Law), 26 (Limited Principal) and CIMA (Certified Investment Management Analyst) designation. In addition to working in the investment industry, Anne-Marie is a mother to two children, Caroline and John and an avid “Crossfitter”.

Serving as Executive Vice President, Anne-Marie utilizes her many years of experience in the IMC role. She works directly with clients discussing investment opportunities, portfolio construction and risk analysis. She is well versed and knowledgeable about the market, asset allocation, and even Social Security benefits.  Anne-Marie helps create the investment portfolios and does the on-going due diligence.  Her favorite part of her role at BRW is building a trusted relationship with the clients, finding solutions to any financial question or obstacle and seeing the clients enjoy their life knowing BRW is always here to help and guide them.

Ariella Monahan

Director of Operations

Ariella Monahan has been in the Investment Services industry since 2004. She began her career at E*TRADE on the Power E*Trade/Day Trading team. After E*TRADE she worked at AssetMark, and investment platform for ten years, where she met Bernie and other team members. Through the AssetMark Platform she became quite familiar with Bernie and the clients. She worked as a Relationship Manager helping Financial Advisors with investment and client related inquiries as well as a Business Analyst until Relocating to D.C. to work for Bernard R. Wolfe & Associates.

Ariella has a degree in Computer Business Administration and also holds the Series 7 (General Securities Representative) & 63 (Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination) licenses. She is a native of Northern California and resides in Chevy Chase, MD. She enjoys running/hiking, soccer and trying to golf in her spare time.

As Director of Operations, Ariella is responsible for overseeing the firm’s operations and marketing ensuring that the everyday activities run smoothly and efficiently. She is knowledgeable in the different processes and procedures regarding client accounts, as well as the market and asset allocation. The thing she enjoys most about her role at BRW is the interaction with clients as we partner with them to achieve their goals. 


Charles Schlegel IV

Registered Associate

Chuck has been in the Financial Services industry for 2 years. Prior to joining BRW June 16, 2015 Chuck was a Financial Representative at Northwestern Mutual and responsible for client contact and evaluating clients future financial stability. 

Chuck graduated from Wake Forest University with a B.S. in Finance where he played NCAA football and baseball in the ACC. He currently holds a series 7 (General Securities Representative) and 66 (Uniform Combined State Law). In addition to working in the investment industry, Chuck enjoys strength and conditioning training. 

Being a registered associate, Chuck works on preparing meeting materials, implementing portfolio recommendations, and engaging clients in post meeting follow-up activities that are directed by the advisors at BRW. Chuck also can be a resource for day to day questions regarding your portfolio and financial questions. Chuck also assists the operations department with opening new accounts, facilitating distributions and general account maintenance.

Katie Kelleher

Registered Associate

Katie joined Bernard R. Wolfe and Associates in the start of 2016 as a registered associate, holding the Series 7 (General Securities Representative) license.  She graduated from Lehigh University in 2014 with a B.S. in Finance, a B.S. in Marketing, and a minor in Mandarin Chinese. She is a Bostonian at heart and enjoys traveling, spending time with family and friends, and running in her spare time.

She previously resided in New York City and worked as a Financial Analytics Representative and Account Manager for Bloomberg, LP. At Bloomberg, Katie worked directly with investment advisors, specializing in software utilization for portfolio and investment optimization.

Katie takes part in all the day to day operations at BRW. She assists Bernie and Anne-Marie with client meetings by preparing detailed notes regarding a client’s overall financial picture, sitting in on the meetings, and implementing any follow up action items. These include but are not limited to opening accounts, trading assets, altering investments strategies, creating fee analyses, and processing contributions and withdrawals. Katie also enjoys the research aspect of the industry and often takes on projects that utilize technical and fundamental indicators to search for opportunistic stocks. She is always ready to answer the phone (or email) and assist with any client inquiry that comes her way.


Katelyn Estrich

Client Service Associate

Katelyn joined the Bernard R. Wolfe & Associates team as a client service associate in November 2013.  Prior to joining us, Katelyn lived in New York City for six years.  While enjoying life as a New Yorker, she worked as a Trading Assistant at King Street Capital, a New York based global distressed credit Hedge Fund.  

Katelyn graduated from Fairfield University with a B.A. in Organizational Communication and a minor in Marketing.  In her free time she enjoys traveling, staying active and spending time with her family. As a native of Bethesda, Maryland, Katelyn is happy to be a Washingtonian again, and resides in Chevy Chase with her husband, Joe, and son, Wells.  

Katelyn is part of the operations team, helping with client service issues and implementing any portfolio changes or recommendations after client meetings.  She also assists in opening new accounts, generating account maintenance paperwork, and helps process distributions, as well as, inputting data to create eMoney financial plans. 


Michelle Cohen


Michelle Cohen (formerly Henderson) graduated from Rutgers University with a BA in Art and minor in English.

Michelle joined Bernard R. Wolfe & Associates in May 2012 with background in Telecom, IT Publishing, Scientific & Technical Writing, Customer Service, and Small Business.  Michelle resides with her husband Cliff in Chevy Chase, MD where she paints watercolors, and watches a lot of Red Sox and Patriots games.

As the firm’s initial, cheerful point of contact, Michelle is responsible for a wide array of administrative tasks; setting and coordinating our appointments for meetings and conference calls; as well as managing client requests, and our tax operations.  You can also call or email her for address, email and phone number changes, electronic account access, password re-sets, K-1s, 1099s, fee spreadsheets, account statements and investment distribution notices.  Michelle believes that client satisfaction is her top priority!
